Honolulu Airport Introduces Electric Tram Service
Honolulu Inouye International Airport has expanded its transport services by adding three new electric trams.
Honolulu Inouye International Airport has recently introduced three electric tram vehicles to enhance passenger transport between terminals. Each tram can accommodate up to 40 passengers and will operate along existing routes served by traditional gas-powered buses.
The deployment of these trams is part of Hawaii's Electric Vehicle as a Service program, aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving efficiency at the airport. The trams are equipped with advanced technology, including cameras and GPS, to ensure fleet visibility and passenger safety.
These trams run between C and G gates and Terminals 1 and 2, providing a seamless travel experience for domestic passengers carrying hand luggage. Financing for these electric vehicles is a part of the broader state initiative to integrate sustainable transport solutions in public infrastructure.
The addition of the electric trams marks a significant step forward in airport operations, supporting its sustainability goals while improving the overall passenger experience.
